THREE DATES THAT HAVE MADE AN INCREDIBLE DIFFERENCE IN THOUSANDS OF LIVES.
1925—-George Shields was born. 1977—–George founded Harmonize For Speech. [H4S] —- 2025—- George celebrates his 100th birthday.
George is a man blessed with incredible foresight , drive, energy, imagination and faith in people. George, as a 74-year Barbershop singer, saw an opportunity with enormous potential. Combining the support of all the Ontario Barbershoppers and friends, he established and created a charity that supports children with speech difficulties named Harmonize For Speech, also known as H4S. These children plus their families, receive funding for diagnoses and professional help. H4S also supports some Colleges and Universities with scholarships for student Speech Language Pathologists, plus funding other methods of speech therapy. H4S also financially supports children’s summer camps. H4S has proven that group therapy is very efficient and cost effective. H4S has shown that you can get a bigger bang for your buck with group therapy. This is just a taste of many ways H4S assists, funds and helps children and families. It’s an unbelievable feeling when you experience a very emotional and appreciative parent explain in great detail how their child has been helped by H4S. As of 2025, George’s 100th birthday, the Ontario Barbershop Society has raised over 6 million dollars! Can you believe that! WOW! So you can understand how George was and is able to influence many people’s lives. The amazing fact is that these are just a few of the ways H4S serves many communities. H4S is one of the many accomplishments George has fulfilled in his life. He certainly has been blessed with a long life and a wonderful heart and a cherished family.
